No merit increases will be awarded to any LSU System employee next fiscal year because of pending budget cuts, LSU System President John Lombardi informed campuses today. A “layoff avoidance” measure, the plan was submitted to the Department of Civil Service for approval. Chancellor Michael Martin told faculty members in an e-mail today that LSU will not award merit increases to “classified, professional, or academic employees, regardless of the source of funds” for the 2009-10 fiscal year, which starts July 1.
