MAN JAYWALKS DRUNK, FALLS TO GROUND At about 5 p.m. Sept. 12, John Draper, a 23-year-old unaffiliated with the University of 1701 Lobdale Ave., was arrested for disturbing the peace with public drunkenness. While trying to cross a crowded campus road outside the crosswalk, an LSU Police Department officer and a Baton Rouge constable officer both riding bikes informed Draper he was in danger of being hit, LSUPD Spokesman Capt. Russell Rogé said. Rogé said Draper cursed at the officers and continued to walk across the street. Rogé said the officers tried to stop Draper, but “Draper’s foot hit the officer’s tire, and Draper flopped on the ground and started yelling.” Draper was not injured, and Rogé said he appeared drunk. When asked if he was drunk, Rogé said Draper initially told the officers he had only had two beers. Rogé said he then told them he “drank two kegs.” Draper was brought back to the Public Safety Building and issued a court summons. He was then released to a sober friend who brought him off campus. 51-YEAR-OLD STEALS SQUID SALAD FROM TIGER LAIR LSUPD arrested a 51-year-old woman unaffiliated with the University around 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 28 for shoplifting a squid salad sushi plate from Tiger Lair in the LSU Student Union. Rogé said officers arrested Sheila Cannon, a Baton Rouge resident with no permanent address, after searching Cannon’s bag and finding a crack pipe and 11 oxycodone pills for which Cannon did not have a prescription. Once questioned, Cannon admitted to stealing an Almond Joy candy bar and a bag of Lay’s potato chips from the Mini Mart before shoplifting from the Union. Cannon was booked in East Baton Rouge Parish prison for shoplifting, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of Schedule II drugs. DRUNK STUDENT FLEES LSUPD, FALLS DOWN LSUPD responded to a medical emergency Aug. 25 at Herget Hall around 1 a.m. and were informed a student had been drinking in the lobby. Officers confronted 18-year-old Andrew Jolibois, of 190 N. Berryline Circle, The Woodlands, Texas, outside the dorm. Jolibois shouted obscenities at the officers before fleeing the scene and falling in the parking lot, Rogé said. He later admitted he was drinking and was booked in Parish Prison for resisting an officer and underage drinking, Rogé said. STUDENT PICKS AT OTHER STUDENTS FOOD IN STADIUM An EBR Parish Sheriff’s deputy found Bennett Porciau, 21-year-old student of 455 Rue de la Place, near a concession stand in Tiger Stadium at about 9 p.m. on Oct. 10 where Porciau was allegedly eating other students’ food while in line, according to LSUPD Spokesman Sgt. Blake Tabor. Porciau was banned from the game and escorted outside. Tabor said he returned five minutes later and argued with officers while kicking beer cans and yelling. Porciau was arrested for disturbing the peace by intoxication and resisting arrest while officers tried to handcuff him, Tabor said. Tabor said Porciau was booked in Parish Prison. DRUNK TAILGATER THROWS TREE LIMBS AT CAR Matthew Haney, a 20-year-old unaffiliated with the University from 12224 Bell Meadow, Denham Springs, was arrested Sept. 12 for disturbing the peace by public drunkenness during a football game. Officers responded to a call on Tower Drive near the Swine Palace theater that a drunk tailgater was throwing tree limbs at cars, Rogé said. When they arrived, Rogé said the officers saw no damage to vehicles but noticed Haney had slurred speech and was stumbling. He was issued a summons before being released to a sober friend. After spotting a parked car with its engine running in the North AgCenter parking lot, officers approached the vehicle to find Darensbourgh trying to hide a bag of marijuana between his seats, Rogé said. Rogé said Darensbourgh handed the bag, which contained about 1.3 grams of marijuana, to the officers when he stepped out the car. After Darensbourgh was arrested, officers found a red plastic pipe under his seats, Rogé said. Darensbourgh was released after being issued a misdemeanor summons.
