(AP) — A government cost-cutting panel rejected a proposal Tuesday to slash the state’s work force by 15,000 employees over three years.Instead, the Commission on Streamlining Government favored a recommendation that agencies “target” a 5 percent cut in their staffing each year for three years. If they can’t reach the target figure, they must explain why to lawmakers and the governor’s administration.
