Third-year architecture graduate student Marcelle Boudreaux and fourth-year architecture undergraduate student Jonathan LeJune were part of the team of students who won the National Community Development Competition.Boudreaux and LeJune designed a business plan and architectural rendering for a grocery store at 5523 St. Claude Ave in the Lower 9th Ward. They explained how fresh food retailers would revitalize a dilapidated commercial corridor and provide much needed fresh food to residents.Students from 12 national universities participated in the competition, which has been held in New Orleans the past two years.
