Delta Zeta Sorority hosted the 19th annual Miss LSU-USA pageant on Sunday in the Student Union Theater.
The pageant, emceed by Candice Marie Bennatt, benefits the speech and hearing impaired as well as Alzheimer’s charities.
Alyssa Ceasar, 21, is the second African American to hold this title at the University.
Ceasar, a senior psychology major from Lake Charles, said she wants to use her title as a way to promote mental health awareness throughout the year.
The pageant consisted of various categories where additional winners were recognized for miss congeniality, most photogenic, My Miss LSU, best interview, best swimsuit and best evening gown.
