LSU lost many players at the end of last season to the NFL Draft.
In hopes of keeping their NFL dreams alive, some athletes, that will never see the field at LSU, are leaving to go to smaller schools where they will have more opportunities to start.
Former starting quarterback Brandon Harris is one of the athletes that made this decision.
Following a bad season opener in Wisconsin, Harris was pulled for Danny Etling and did not start for the rest of the season.
Once the season ended, Harris announced he would be leaving LSU. He has yet to release what school he will be attending in the fall.
This is something other backups have done in the past, but now all of them feel that leaving LSU is the right decision for them.
“It’s bigger than football,” Jibrail Abdul- Aziz said.
Abdul- Aziz is an offensive lineman on LSU’s roster.
He is currently working for a starting position, but thinks being a student at LSU is worth it whether he gets it or not.
“Me being at this university is totally bigger than football,” Abdul- Aziz said. “It’s about getting a degree.”
Besides the opportunities LSU provides, the memories and experiences also keep Abdul- Aziz in purple and gold.
NFL dreams may continue to keep others away from taking the field in Tiger Stadium on Saturday nights.
“Everyone has that dream of getting to the NFL and getting drafted and that whole process,” Abdul- Aziz said. “It’s just something that everyone would like to accomplish.”
