With BUKU Music + Art Project only days away, many are surely stressed about what to bring and what to leave. For the most experienced of festival goers, preparing for the coming weekend is probably no challenge at all. For the rest of us, however, a packing list can go a long way. The Daily Reveille lists a few items that will make sure your time at BUKU is simple and stress free.
Essentials
Small bag, backpack or fanny pack
There’s nothing worse than showing up to an event sporting everything you need to make sure it runs smoothly, then realizing you have to carry it all the entire time.
Your wristband
If you’re going to go through all the trouble to buy your ticket, pack for the festival and make the trek to New Orleans for the weekend, make sure you don’t forget what might be the most necessary item on this checklist. Without it, you’ll be stuck outside, only able to imagine what’s going on inside.
Camelbak, Nalgene, Water Bottle or Klean Kanteen
There are a few free water stations to be found around the festival, so a refillable water bottle will definitely come in handy. Don’t forget, it has to be empty to get past festival security.
Valid government issued ID
Since BUKU is an 18+ event, you’re not getting in without this essential.
Cash
While there will be ATMs in the area, long lines and ATM withdrawal charges will only add to the stress of having to spend money on food, drinks and souvenirs at the festival.
Rain or Shine
Raincoat
Although there is never a chance of rain in Death Valley, there is a pretty good chance of rain this weekend. Since BUKU is a “rain or shine” event, sporting a rain jacket will make sure that any possible rainfall doesn’t keep you from seeing Travis Scott, Lil Yachty or anyone else you may be looking forward to seeing.
Sunglasses
If you’ve ever been to a concert or festival outside during the day, you know that sun in your eyes is almost a guarantee. With your favorite pair of sunglasses in tow, nothing can hinder your view of your favorite performers on BUKU’s stages — except maybe the really tall guy that just had to stand in the very front.
Sunscreen (less than 3.4 ounces, of course)
You definitely don’t want your Coachella-worthy look to be accompanied by a wicked sunburn. Make sure to pack your SPF 15, but leave the big bottle at home.
Fun
Frisbee or playing cards
Any festival pro will tell you that you don’t want to be left with nothing to do between sets and you can only refresh your Twitter feed oh-so-many-times in a 10-minute period. Bringing something to play with will not only keep you from being bored, but may also help you make a few new friends!
Small, non-professional camera or GoPro
While you will, of course, be documenting your incredible experience via Snapchat, you’ll want to be able to capture the entire weekend, regardless of your phone battery. Bringing a small, non-professional camera — even if just as a backup — will ensure that none of your festival memories get lost in your phone’s camera roll.
