The No. 2 LSU gymnastics team can add another award for its 2016-17 season.
With the third highest score in Southeastern Conference Tournament history, LSU won the first SEC Championship title since it was first held in 1981.
The Tigers posted a 198.075 final score, which is the second high score this season.
The Tigers made adjustments from their first meet on podium at the Mardi Gras Invitational and started off strong with a 49.575 on vault.
Senior all-arounder Ashleigh Gnat notched her ninth perfect 10 of her career for the vault title.
After freshman all-arounder and former Great Britain Olympian Ruby Harrold struggled on bars with a 9.475, the rest of the team picked it up with as LSU finished with 49.450.
Sophomore all-arounder Lexie Priessman returned to the lineup after an injury and scored 9.95 on bars to tie her career high. She shared the event title with Alabama’s Katie Bailey
After a fall from junior all-arounder Erin Macadaeg in the lead off spot, the Tigers battled back to finish with a 49.500 on beam.
Gnat’s 9.95 on beam tied her career high and shared the individual title with Alabama’s Kianna Winston.
On floor, the Tigers posted a 49.550, where sophomore McKenna Kelley clinched the title with a 9.95 in the fifth spot. She needed a 9.85 to win.
Senior all-arounder Shae Zamardi posted a career high 9.90 and Gnat anchored with a 9.95.
Gnat and Kelly shared the floor title with Florida’s Alex McMurtry and Kennedy Baker.
