The first LSU basketball signee in the Will Wade era comes in the shape of a 6-foot-10 power forward from Bradenton, Florida.
Mayan Kiir, a four-star recruit, signed with LSU on Wednesday.
Kiir joins four stars Brandon Rachal and Galen Alexander as the third signee in the Tigers’ 2017 class.
Before signing with LSU Kiir signed a letter of intent to VCU in November, where Wade formerly coached. After Wade left VCU and signed a six-year deal with LSU, Kiir asked for his release and reopened his commitment.
The NCAA allows recruits who sign during the fall signing period to ask for their letter of intent if a coach has been fired or leaves the school.
Kiir originally listed LSU in his top five during his recruitment process, and took an official visit to LSU when the Tigers played Alabama on November 5.
Kiir averaged 13.2 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game at Victory Rock Prep High School.
