The Lady Volunteers are known for their energy, speed, strength, and overall consistency on the softball field; a deadly mix with which the Tigers could not keep up on Friday night.
Head Coach Beth Torina, uses the term “punched in the mouth” to refer to any blunders the women may come across during the game. Senior infielder Constance Quinn said it was the team’s poor response to getting “punched in the mouth” that cost them the game.
“We have to learn how to come back and bounce back from it,” said Quinn.
LSU will play Tennessee again Saturday, which gives the team minimal time to shake off their disappointment and prepare for another game. However, Quinn ensures that the team keeps their priorities straight.
“LSU means more than ourselves, more than the names on our back,” Quinn said. “We have to understand that when we come together as a team it’s really hard to stop us.”
The first pitch for the Tigers’ and Lady Vols’ second match-up of the weekend will be thrown at 3 p.m. in Tiger Park on Saturday.
