Texas de Brazil, a Brazilian steakhouse and churrascaria, gives guests a unique experience from the moment they step into the beautiful atmosphere.
This restaurant, one of the franchise’s 50 locations, opened in 2008.
The atmosphere of Texas de Brazil is not that of a typical restaurant. To get a seat, a reservation needs to be made a week in advance. The servers, or gauchos as they are called at this restaurant, aren’t assigned to a certain table.
“You sit down and your server will go through the Brazilian story that the guests purchased. You then purchase cocktails and drinks, all of the things not included in the price,” said operations manager Kellie Heath. “The gauchos, or carver if you prefer, then walk around the restaurant and wait for the guests to flip the red disk they are given to green, meaning they are ready to be served, and [they] serve them their meat.”
The standard of doneness is medium rare. If the guest prefers something different, the gaucho will accommodate their request.
“The gaucho will simply carve off the squire the temperature you want and serve it,” Heath said. “The guest is also given a set of tongs so they can grab the amount of meat they want.”
The salad bar is open to all of the guests, but there is also a more affordable option which allows guests to purchase only access to the salad bar.
Texas de Brazil is busiest from November to February. Many guests will reserve the restaurant’s private rooms for Christmas or graduation parties and other special events.
As soon as new athletes sign with the University, they are introduced to Baton Rouge with a dinner at Texas de Brazil.
“We host all of LSU’s recruiting events for mainly football and track and sometimes basketball,” Heath said.
If you have a special event coming up, or if you’re planning a fancy dinner, consider Texas de Brazil. The restaurant has the perfect ambience for an anniversary dinner or a birthday lunch with the family.
If interested in dining at Texas de Brazil, the restaurant is open 5-9:30 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, 5-10 p.m. on Friday, 4:30-10 p.m. on Saturday and 4-9 p.m. on Sunday. Lunch hours are 12-3:30 p.m. during weekends.
