For the second straight season, and seventh in school history, the LSU gymnastics team is headed to the Super Six.
The Tigers finished first in their semifinal matchup with a score of 198.275 to set an NCAA Championship record. Florida and Alabama will both be advancing to the Super Six as well.
LSU’s 198.275 was also the highest score in the semifinals among all the teams.
With a change from the normal home rotation, LSU began on floor and continued through vault, bars and beam.
The Tigers were lights out on the floor as they set a school record and NCAA semifinal record with a 49.7125 to kick off the meet.
They had three straight scores of 9.95 while senior all-arounder Ashleigh Gnat clinched the event title with a 9.9625.
LSU kept its momentum going, scoring a 49.5625 on vault.
Freshman all-arounder Kennedi Edney notched a career-high of 9.9875 to capture the individual event title.
After the bye rotation, the Tigers returned to score a 49.4125 on bars. Sophomore all-arounder Sarah Finnegan scored a 9.95, sharing the title with Florida sophomore Alex McMurtry and Alabama senior Katie Bailey.
The Tigers finished the meet strong with a 49.5875, scoring no lower than 9.90 on beam.
LSU will try to win its first ever national championship.
