LSU is off to the Southeastern Conference Tournament final.
Senior shortstop Kramer Robertson opened the game with a lead-off home run, his second home run in as many games. The senior finished the semifinal game against South Carolina a double short of the cycle and with two RBIs.
In the three tournament games, Robertson has been phenomenal at the plate in the tournament, batting .462 with two home runs and seven RBIs in 13 plate appearances.
Junior right fielder Greg Deichmann joined Robertson in the home run column, twice. In the first inning, Deichmann hit a two-run shot that just got over the glove of South Carolina’s center fielder, and another solo shot to center field in the third inning.
Senior pitcher Jared Poche went six innings giving up two hits and two walks, but no runs allowed. Freshman Todd Peterson was credited with the save.
The Tigers 10-run ruled an opponent for the second straight game in the SEC Tournament for the first time since 2001. It also the first time LSU has scored 10-plus runs in five straight games since 2000. The win gives coach Paul Mainieri his 30th career win in the SEC Tournament.
LSU (42-17), is set to play the winner of Florida and Arkansas in the tournament final at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
