16 people caught at ‘drinking party’ at LSU greenhouses
Update: An earlier version of this article referred to all the alleged trespassers as juveniles. LSUPD has updated that information, which is now reflected here.
LSUPD spokesperson Lt. Kevin Scott said 16 people were charged with criminal trespassing after they were found at a “drinking party” on University property Saturday morning.
According to Scott, on Feb. 4 around midnight, LSUPD observed two women in the X109 parking lot.
As LSUPD officers questioned the women, two men were seen fleeing the area, Scott said. The two men were then apprehended by LSUPD, according to Scott.
After further investigation, LSUPD responded to the greenhouses on Gourrier Avenue where a “drinking party” was discovered, according to Scott. None were LSU students.
LSUPD later learned the people gained access to the greenhouses with a key that was taken from the father of one of the accused, Scott said. The father is employed at the facility, according to Scott.
As a result, 16 people were detained, charged with criminal trespassing and released to “concerned adults.”
Those charged include: 17-year-old Michael Pinell of Plaquemine, 17-year-old Elizabeth Feltner of Baton Rouge, 17-year-old Balyn Walters of St. Francisville, 17-year-old Emily Loe of Baton Rouge, 17-year-old Aiden Gale of Baton Rouge, 17-year-old Marla Aronson of Baton Rouge, 17-year-old Georgia Tsolakis of Baton Rouge, 17-year-old Emma Fryday of Baton Rouge, 18-year-old Caleb Webster of Baton Rouge, 18-year-old Brittany Nettles of Baton Rouge, 18-year-old Henry Pardue of Baton Rouge, 18-year-old Shelia Ton of Baton Rouge, 18-year-old Delaney Dufrene of Baton Rouge, and three juveniles.
Editor’s Note: This story has been updated to clarify that all 16 individuals were not necessarily caught drinking, but were all found at what Scott described as a “drinking party.”
30-year-old charged with third DWI
A 30-year-old non-student was arrested for his third DWI Sunday evening, Scott said.
According to Scott, on Feb. 5 at 10:30 p.m., LSUPD conducted a traffic stop on Nicholson Drive.
As a result, Kyle Jackson of Baton Rouge was arrested for DWI, improper lane usage, suspended driver’s license and open container, Scott said.
Jackson submitted a chemical breath sample of .179 percent. This is Jackson’s third DWI arrest, according to Scott.
He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on the aforementioned charges.
Vehicle pursuit on Nicholson ends in Ascension Parish
An attempted traffic stop by LSUPD resulted in a vehicle pursuit that ended in Ascension Parish, Scott said.
According to Scott, on Feb. 7 at 3:30 a.m., LSUPD attempted a traffic stop on Nicholson Drive that resulted in a pursuit.
The fleeing driver, 48-year-old Robert Aaron of Gonzales, led authorities all the way to Ascension Parish, Scott said.
The vehicle pursuit ended when Aaron crashed at the intersection of KC and Babin Road, according to Scott.
Aaron then attempted to flee on foot and was apprehended by authorities, Scott said. The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office and St. Gabriel Police Department assisted in the pursuit, according to Scott.
Aaron was arrested for aggravated flight from an officer, resisting an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and various traffic violations, Scott said.
He was booked into the Ascension Parish Prison, then transported and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, according to Scott.
