On Saturday in his first start of the season, Jared Poche’ threw a no- hitter, the first to be thrown for the Tigers since 1979.
Poche’s dad predicted it all. He says his dad told him he was going to throw a no-hitter while out eating with him the day before the game.
“I was like why you saying that?” Poche said. “I was expecting to get hit all around the ball park today.”
But the exact opposite happened. Only one Army runner reached base on an error.
Coach Paul Mainieri gave Poche’ a big hug after the game. He asked Poche’ if the no- hitter made it worth coming back for his senior season.
“I was like absolutely, 100 percent,” Poche’ said.
Thanks to Poche’s peformance, the Tigers defeated Army 6-0, and now stand at 2-0 on the season. This was Poche’s final opening day as a Tiger.
“I guess I went out with a bang,” Poche said.
