The University’s chapter of Kappa Sigma Fraternity expelled some of its members after allegations of wrongdoing, according to The Advocate.
The Daily Reveille could not independently confirm the allegations.
“The Kappa Sigma Fraternity has received allegations that some of the members of the Kappa Sigma Chapter at LSU may have participated in activities that violated the Code of Conduct of Kappa Sigma Fraternity,” Mitchell B. Wilson, the executive director of the international organization said in a statement. “The Fraternity has investigated these matters and any individual who participated in any violation will be subject to the disciplinary process of the Fraternity. Any and all disciplinary actions of the members of Kappa Sigma are a private matter. The Fraternity focuses on the four key values of fellowship, leadership, scholarship and service. Any action by a member that is contrary to these values will result in that member being held accountable by the Fraternity.”
LSU Media Relations Director Ernie Ballard said the University could not comment on the specifics of the ongoing investigation, but said the school was made aware of the allegations last fall and immediately began work on the formal process.
“The national organization of Kappa Sigma also undertook its own investigation. Any actions to date were taken voluntarily by the national organization,” Ballard said in a statement.
