LSU swept all 5 events against the eleventh ranked Missouri Tigers Friday to extend their home win streak to 24 meets and move to 5-0 for the season.
Freshmen Ruby Harrold and Kennedi Edney both left their mark as Harrold took home her first individual title with a 9.875 on bars while Edney edged out Gnat for the all-around title. LSU’s 197.425 makes for the tiger’s 13th straight meet scoring 197 or better.
“It wasn’t a great meet. We struggled for everything we got. To have this kind of meet and still be able to put out that kind of score is exciting,” said head coach D-D Breaux.
“There are things that we will go back into the gym and work on and focus on to get ourselves better. We have a long way to go left in the season. It’s not like this is the finale at all,” said senior Ashleigh Gnat.
LSU takes on Arkansas next Friday in Fayetteville, but have Oklahoma in the back of their mind as they compete in the Mardi Gras Invitational on Feb. 17 against Oklahoma, Georgia, and Missouri.
“It’s hard for me not to look past Arkansas next week. Oklahoma is a great team and this performance tonight would not have beaten Oklahoma,” Breaux said.
“I think that we are all really excited to get back into the gym and work on small things that are going to end up help us towards our end goal in April in nationals,” said junior Myia Hambrick.
