The LSU baseball team defeated Hofstra University on Wednesday with a final score of 8-1.
After facing a tough loss to New Orleans the night before, the Tigers were determined to win.
“This is about us. This is about bouncing back after a heartbreaking loss last night,” head coach Paul Mainieri said. “We take pride in not having losing streaks at LSU.”
Junior infielder Greg Deichmann hit a 486-foot homerun in Wednesday’s game, his third of the season.
“Anything that travels that far ought to have a flight attendant on it I think,” Mainieri said. ”That was about as long a homerun as I’ve ever seen.”
Freshman pitcher Zack Hess had his collegiate debut as the starting pitcher during the win over Hofstra. Hess allowed only two hits and no runs with six strikeouts.
The Tigers are now 4-1 for the season. Next, LSU will host Maryland this weekend.
