In their last game before heading to Hawaii for the Maui Invitational, the Tigers defeated the Samford Bulldogs 105-86.
LSU dominated on the offensive side of the ball; the Tigers assisted on 29 of 39 field goals and went 29-30 at the free throw line.
“Offense isn’t a problem,” LSU Head Coach Will Wade said. “We’re not gonna score a hundred every night, I can tell you that. We’ll average in the high-to-seventies to low eighties.”
But the Tigers defense collapsed in the second half, giving up 58 points, including 11 three-pointers.
“Second half was just terrible,” Wade said. “I don’t know if i’ve ever seen a team give up 58 points in a half. That’s what your supposed to give up for a game.”
“I think they, like, kinda sped us up a little bit when we needed to control the tempo,” LSU F Brandon Sampson said.
The Tigers start off the Maui invitation on Monday when they take on the Michigan Wolverines.
