Wednesday, Oct. 25 LSU hosted the 5^th annual Frankenfaire. This event took place in Middleton Library from 11-2pm.
This Halloween-themed event provided information about the library’s resources. There were multiple stations that allowed students’ to interact with librarians.
The first 200 attendees who visited all of the stations received prize bags. All that attended and visited each station were entered into a prize drawing to win items such as an Ipad, a Kindle 7, Kindle Fire HD8 and much more.
“It [was] a lot of fun. I actually learned so much about the library and what it has to offer. I usually just stay on the first floor and study all day but I didn’t know about all of the resources I could access on the second, third and fourth floor,” said LSU student Jaya Koonjbearry.
Elizabeth Taylor who is the head graduate assistant for the Center of Academic Success worked the station for the CAS.
“What we’re doing is we’re handing out different pamphlets about what our program does as well as little prizes like pencils, bookmarks, academic calendars; as well as candy and then answering questions that the students have,” Taylor said.
Undergraduate and Student Success Librarian and Sarah Simms spearheaded the event.
“It is a way for us to showcase the services that promote student success. [Students’] have the opportunity to meet Mike the tiger [and] to get free pizza. We have information stations where [they] actually get to trick or treat and it’s a way for librarians to also interact with students in a really fun way,” Simms said.
