Three people were injured after a fire broke out outside the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, according to LSU Media Relations Director Ernie Ballard.
Ballard said the three individuals were transported for medical treatment after a problem with an electrical box on the outside of the building sparked a fire. The Law Center was evacuated due to smoke inside the building.
LSU Media Relations confirmed no students were injured in the fire. One LSU facilities services employee and two subcontractors were transported to Baton Rouge General Hospital with burns.
Power to the building had to be cut in order to investigate the cause of the fire, this outage has affected some buildings of the East Campus Apartments and Churches on Highland Road.
Officials say the building will be closed the rest of the day and Highland Road will remain closed from Raphael Semmes Road to Dalrymple Drive.
