The LSU Tigers topped Texas A&M, 45 to 21.
Although it was the last game in Death Valley this season, there were a couple of firsts in the game.
The Tigers started off strong against the Aggies.
Russell Gage’s first quarter 11 yard receiving touchdown put LSU ahead by 13 points.
Senior Darrel Williams had a big night, with his 77 yard run his longest of the night.
The run set him up for a one yard touchdown and LSU brought their lead to 20 points.
Texas A & M was unable to answer the Tigers until late in the second quarter.
The LSU defense struggled early in the second half, giving up two more touchdowns.
But in the third, defensive back Donte Jackson got his first interception of the year.
Jackson picked off Texas A & M’s quarterback, Nick Starkel leading to a Derrius Guice touchdown.
Head Coach Ed Orgeron says the pick was a turning point.
“You could feel the team going in a little lull,” Orgeron said. “You could feel the momentum change for Texas A & M. I think that was a big play.”
The momentum did shift toward LSU, they were able to put up 18 more points over the Aggies.
Linebacker Devin White says opponents should not count out the Tigers.
“We bend but we don’t break,” White said. “We are going to keep fighting.”
The Tigers will find out in a week which bowl they will play in but they finished their regular season strong with a win.
