LSU proved their dominance as the top Tigers in SEC volleyball after defeating the Auburn Tigers three sets to one in the PMAC on Wednesday night.
LSU dominated the first two sets 25-15, 25-16 and kept the momentum in their favor. However, Auburn changed their player match-ups in the third set and won 25-20, which shook up LSU’s advantage. LSU gained back their edge and won the final set 25-20.
“Super proud. This is a really important win for us,” head coach Fran Flory said.
LSU’s defense shined in the spotlight of center court during the match with 18 blocks and 82 digs.
“Eighteen blocks is huge for us,” Flory said. ”I don’t think we’ve blocked that many balls in a match.”
This win improves the Tigers’ overall record to 19-7 with only three matches left in the regular season.
“The coolest thing about this team is we’re getting better every time we step on the court,” Flory said. “There’s not enough season left for us.”
LSU will travel to Tuscaloosa this Sunday, November 19 to play the University of Alabama at 3 p.m.
