LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda was not among the 15 semifinalists for the Broyles Award, which is awarded annually to the best coordinator in college football. 
LSU’s defense currently ranks 15th in the FBS and fifth in the SEC, giving up an average of 314.4 yards per game. 
Among the finalists are Auburn defensive coordinator and former LSU defensive coordinator Kevin Steele. The other finalists from the SEC are Alabama offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, Georgia defensive coordinator Mel Tucker and Mississippi State defensive coordinator Todd Grantham.
