Fall semester is quickly coming to an end and LSU students are stressed. With the semester coming to an end means finals are quickly approaching. Finals will take place from Dec. 4th through Dec. 9th.
Middleton Library is under construction, but that has not stopped students from studying. Accounting sophomore Kevin Lam had been studying in the library for hours.
“I am cramming for this exam that I have later today…I’m pretty stressed about it. This exam I’m about to take is going to be pretty big on my overall grade in the class so it’s weighing pretty heavy on my mind ” Lam said.
Next to his notes and his computer was his monster energy drink. Though stressed, Lam doesn’t let it get the best of him.
“I try to not let it get to me. I take mental breaks and kind of regroup myself so I don’t really freak out,” he said.
For those students who are feeling overwhelmed and need help, they should visit the Student Health Center.
Julie Hupperich, associate director of the student health center advises students to take advantage of the resources it provides.
“All of the assessments data that we have both nationally and for a campus in particular show us that students are coming to campus with higher levels of stress and anxiety,” Hupperich said.
“They can actually come in to see a health educator for wellness coaching sessions and we can work through some strategies with them and then if any care beyond that then they can come to a group in mental health service or they can even meet with a clinician in mental health counseling,” Hupperich said.
While students may start to feel overwhelmed, it’s important for them to remember they have options at LSU.
If anyone needs to reach the health center, they should call (225) 578-6271.
