Junior all-arounder McKenna Kelley ruptured her Achilles heel and will undergo surgery on Tuesday, she announced via Twitter Monday night.
The two-time All-American and All-Southeastern Conference gymnast was set to anchor for the Tigers in the floor lineup during the 2018 season. Kelley is the reigning SEC Champion in the floor exercise with a score of 9.95.
Kelley has a history of injuries, including an ankle injury that limited her during her freshman season and a back injury that caused her to miss meets against Missouri and Kentucky during her sophomore season.
She has career highs of 9.975 on floor twice versus George Washington University and 9.825 on vault versus New Hampshire and an average 9.902 on floor in the 2017 season.
