If LSU wants to pull out a win against No. 10 Auburn on Saturday, Dave Aranda’s defense will have to find a way to stop Auburn’s junior running back Kerryon Johnson.
Johnson’s averaging almost six yards per carry and has a total of twelve rushing touchdowns this season.
That is the same amount of touchdowns as the entire LSU team.
The Tigers have been preparing to stop Johnson all week.
“We have got to tackle him,” senior defensive lineman Greg Gilmore said. “We’ve got to tackle him up high. We’ve been working on that all week.”
Head coach Ed Orgeron said that the defense is going to take it one play at a time.
“We’re going to be very careful with what we do,” Orgeron said. “We’re going to make sure we’re in the right place at the right time. I think the key to this game against these guys is to tackle.”
Even though the unranked Tigers face a top-ten opponent this week, they do not feel like the underdogs in Tiger Stadium.
“They’re coming to our house,” sophomore linebacker Devin White said. “Our guys are going to be fired up, ready to play.”
Kickoff is set for 2:39 p.m. on Saturday.
