BATON ROUGE- Tropical Storm Nate could affect Louisiana this upcoming weekend as a hurricane.
Tropical Storm Nate formed in the Caribbean Thursday morning and is expected to turn into a hurricane sometime this weekend. According to the National Weather Service, tropical storm like winds could set in as quickly as Saturday night.
Last night the storm’s projected path shifted farther west, which puts Southeastern Louisiana and Mississippi at risk.
Based on the projected path, the National Weather Service advises Southeast Louisiana and Mississippi to prepare for tropical storm force winds and heavy rainfall.
Grand Isle has already ordered a voluntary evacuation.
