The Morning Breath merges pop culture, news and humor to bring a light and fun take to the day’s current events.
Sisters Jackie Oshry and Claudia Oshry-Soffer host the show, which usually runs from 30 to 60 minutes, every weekday morning. The sisters air the show on Instagram Live as a way to interact with their fans during the show, but then upload the show to the Podcast app.
Their target audience are young men and women, but people of any age who have an interest in Bravo television shows or country music will enjoy the podcast.
The talk show is also uploaded to YouTube in an effort to reach as many people as possible.
In just six months, the podcast has received over 1,000 reviews, most of which are five stars on the Podcast app.
Claudia is the face behind the popular Instagram account @girlwithnojob, with 2.7 million followers, and Jackie has her own heavily followed account, @jackieoproblems, with 67.9 thousand followers. It is safe to say they are well aware of how to use comedy to market to consumers.
The podcast delves into pop culture topics, like the status of your favorite reality TV stars’ relationship or the newest controversy over a Kardashian. For instance, the sisters spent around 15 minutes discussing the controversy surrounding Kylie Jenner and Khloe Kardashian’s pregnancies.
Their opinions reflect what they’ve read on the internet, but rather than ruminate on gossip, the duo aims to be as credible as possible when speaking on subjects largely speculative by using accredited news sources. The sisters are quick to point out sources that may not be as credible, like TMZ.
The upbeat tone of The Morning Breath intrigues and entertains listeners and viewers. It is a welcome departure from the usually stoic cable news.
The Oshry sisters often feature guests from the television shows and pop culture events they discuss. Recent guests include Juliette Porter from MTV’s Siesta Key and country singer RaeLynn. This adds something different to their show as they are giving the people a chance to defend, deny or agree with the accusations made about them on the internet.
The hosts are casual in their demeanor, giving the audience a feeling of inclusion while they watch and listen. Many comments on their social media pages and Podcast reviews consider the way the sisters talk about their personal lives, like their friends, dogs and significant others a strength. It is informal, comical and informative all at once.
Their outgoing personalities and large social media following leads the audience to them, but their comedic charisma keeps listeners coming back. The Morning Breath is likely to become a staple around the coffee table in the months to come.
