Redshirt sophomore defensive end Isaiah Washington announced he’s transferring from LSU.
“I would like to this time to thank LSU for what they did for me,” Washington said via Twitter. “I’m transferring to a different college.”
The New Orleans native was a three star recruit in the class of 2015 according to 247sports.com.
Washington finished his freshman year with 3 total tackles and a forced fumble in six games, but suffered a knee injury in fall practice last August, forcing him to redshirt for the 2016 season.
He was expected to be a backup to junior outside linebacker Arden Key this fall, but in March, Washington was ruled academically ineligible for spring practice.
With Key possibly out for the start of the season due to offseason shoulder surgery, expect freshman K’Lavon Chiasson, redshirt freshmen Andre Anthony and Ray Thornton, or sophomore Sci Martin to see playing time in place of Washington.
Washington is the eighth player to leave LSU since the end of last season.
