Former Tiger Band director Roy King accepted a position as the band director of Tate High School, the school’s showband announced in a post on its Facebook page Thursday.
King filed a lawsuit against the University last May after he was fired on April 19, 2016, for various acts of misconduct, including distributing unapproved scholarships and allegedly misappropriating Tiger Band funds, according to a May 2016 report from the LSU Office of the Internal Audit.
King’s lawsuit was settled in June and cost the University $110,000, according to The Advocate. King received $10,000 for lost wages and $63,333 for personal and bodily injuries. King’s lawyer, Jill Craft, received $36,666 for attorney’s fees.
King was employed at the University for 18 years and was the Tiger Band director for five years.
The University was satisfied with the settlement, LSU Media Relations Director Ernie Ballard said in a previous statement to The Daily Reveille.
