Sophisticated, strange, and beautiful.
The Books, an experimental-electronic duo, formed in 2000 when Nick Zammuto and Paul de Jong met through a friend in New York City. The pair had different roots in acoustic music but similar interests and took their sonic experiments to the studio. After spending some time recording, The Books picked up a lot of favorable word of mouth and critical buzz with their first two records, ‘Thought for Food’ (2002) and ‘The Lemon of Pink’ (2003).
They are known for their distinctive blend of samples and acoustic music. Their mixture of clear-eyed folk, bizarre electronic rhythms, and strange vocals samples have allowed them to create something truly original and completely unique.
