LSU soccer remains undefeated after beating Liberty, the defending Big South Conference champions. The lone goal was scored by freshman defender Lucy Parker, her second goal of the season.
The Tigers took the field sporting teal and white jerseys in honor of Ovarian Cancer Awareness month.
Four gynecological cancer survivors were honored on the field during halftime, including Becky Melancon, an 18-year cancer survivor.
“This is our very first ‘Kick Ovarian Cancer’ game,” Melancon said. “The softball team had six ‘Strikeout Ovarian Cancer’ games.”
LSU’s ‘Kick Ovarian Cancer’ game was sponsored by Geaux Teal, a local organization that promotes community events to raise awareness. All fans in attendance received a teal button in support.
LSU (6-0) will host the Cincinnati Bearcats on Thursday and the Vanderbilt Commodores on Sunday.
