LSU is set to play its first game at Tiger Stadium this season when the visiting Chattanooga Mocs travel to Baton Rouge.
The Tigers (1-0) are coming off an impressive 27-0 victory over BYU in which they held the Cougars to 97 yards of total offense.
Coach Ed Orgeron is excited for his freshmen to get their first taste of Death Valley and gave them a few words of advice.
“Enjoy it,” Orgeron told his players. “Focus on the task at hand and I’m glad they got all that playing time in the Superdome. It’s really a fun time for those guys.”
The Mocs will be the first and only FCS team to play the Tigers this season and Orgeron said Saturday’s game will be a tremendous opportunity for that program.
“I have a lot of respect for that league,” Orgeron said. “For them to play a team like LSU, it’s good for the team, it’s good for the coaching staff. I know they’re going to be fired up.”
Orgeron also stated that sophomore defensive end Rashard Lawrence will not play due to injury. Freshmen Glen Logan, Justin Thomas and Neil Ferrell will rotate in Lawrence’s absence.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. Saturday evening and can be seen on SEC Network.
