The University announced the cancellation of Wednesday classes for students late Tuesday night in anticipation of inclement weather from Tropical Storm Harvey.
“I was [surprised classes were cancelled], but I actually expected there would be rain,” said industrial engineering freshman Ben Haynie. “I’d been following the weather, but it said there would be rain from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. I’m still glad I haven’t had any classes.”
Campus services also cancelled include the Student Health Center, Middleton Library, the LSU Student Union, the Barnes & Noble Bookstore and the TigerTrails bus system. The dining halls, Take 5 and 459 Commons will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Campus Transit is expected to run its normal schedule, 5:30 p.m. to midnight, if weather permits. The UREC will be open from 6 p.m. to midnight and Tiger Trails will reopen for night services at 6 p.m.
Pre-med freshman Cassie Rammidi said she needed to use campus services in the Student Union and at the Financial Aid Office, and the cancellation of classes interfered with those plans.
“I’ve got stuff to do,” Rammidi said. “Now I’m going to have to wait because their office is closed.”
