“First of all we send our thoughts and prayers to the wonderful people in Houston and south Texas,” LSU coach Ed Orgeron said in the Southeastern Conference coaches teleconference.
“It hurts to see on TV the people that are struggling,” Orgeron said. “It hurts to see our players from Houston worried.”
LSU has five players who are from Houston and multiple other players from the surrounding area.
The Tigers will now play BYU in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. It will be the first time LSU will have played in the Superdome since the 2012 national championship game.
“Obviously this about our team, our great fans, LSU, and the great state of Louisiana,” Orgeron said. “I’m so excited for everybody it’s going to be a wonderful night in the Superdome.”
“I know as a kid, I dreamed about bringing an LSU football team to the Superdome.”
