Jamal Adams has made his decision.
The All-American safety will forgo his senior season and declare for the NFL draft he announced on Friday at a news conference.
“This decision did not come easy,” Adams said.
Adams said he “kind of” came to the decision to enter the draft before LSU’s 29-9 win versus Louisville on Dec. 31, he said.
“I wanted to finish as a winner,” Adams said. “There’s some people saying were people saying ‘Why were you saying ‘Heisman?’ and they were people saying this and that about returning. It wasn’t trying to trick anybody. It was about staying focused.”
The Lewisville,Texas native is projected to be a top-15 pick in the draft. Adams joins Leonard Fournette and Davon Godchaux as early entries to the NFL.
The 6-foot-1, 213-pound defensive back intends to sign with a sports agency in the future and plans to train EXOS in Arizona.
“You need an agent,” Adams said. “A lot of people feel like you don’t need one. There’s certain things you don’t want to worry about as a rookie or while you’re being drafted.”
Adams started in all 12 games for LSU this season, registering 76 total tackles and recording one interception.
The Tigers already set to lose senior starters Tre’Davious White, Kendell Beckwith and Duke Riley on defense.
