A popular rideshare service will begin offering rides in Baton Rouge.
Lyft announced Wednesday that beginning at noon on Thursday, the transportation service will debut in the Capital City. Baton Rouge will be one of 40 cities nation-wide launching Lyft’s services on Thursday.
Lyft’s Head of Early Stage Markets and Expansion Jaime Raczka said the company is excited to get started in the area, according to a news release.
“We’ve wanted to bring Lyft to Baton Rouge for quite a while, and we’re thrilled that this Thursday people across the city will be able to get a reliable, affordable Lyft ride,” Raczka said. “From Scotlandville to South Baton Rouge, we look forward to seeing ridesharing grow in the Capital City for years to come.”
Lyft’s services currently cover 55 percent of the U.S. population. By the end of the year, the company is expecting to service nearly three-quarters of the country.
Lyft was founded in June 2012 and is now available in more than 200 U.S. cities.
To celebrate the launch, new passengers will be able to use the code LYFTLOVE17 to receive $5 off their first Lyft ride.
