King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are a 7-piece Australian psych rock band, and if their outlandish name hasn’t already grabbed your attention, their prolific output of music will. Under the command of Stu McKenzie, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have put out 9 albums since their first release in 2011, and the band plans on releasing 5 albums in 2017. King Gizzard initially started off as a garage rock band, but their influences range from the blues, folk, metal, psych, and krautrock. While many of their albums have fallen under one genre, more or less, the Gizz boys have also dabbled with concept albums. Their last album, Nonagon Infinity, is an infinitely looping album, their album Quarters! consists of 4 songs that are 10:10 each, and their upcoming album, Microtonal Flying Banana, explores microtonal tunings.
