LSU Men's Basketball Head Coach Johnny Jones talks about his team on October 12, 2016 in the University Basketball Practice Facility.
Johnny Jones answered questions regarding his future with the program and his players’ commitment at a press conference a day after his team’s 30-point drubbing at the hands of Texas A&M in College Station.
“No, absolutely not,” Jones said, when asked if his team quit against the Aggies. “You know quit when you see it in guys’ eyes. I thought we played a good team last night, but quit? No. I think these guys care about what they’re doing.”
The questions then switched to ones concerning his job security.
“I don’t get caught up in that,” Jones said. “I’ve been a coach for a living. I’ve been doing this for 30 odd years. I’ve won everywhere I’ve been. I’m a competitor. Nobody wants to win more than I do.”
The Tigers sit at 1-3 in conference play and 9-6 overall.
LSU’s next game is against Alabama on Saturday in the PMAC. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30p.m. CT.
