Gov. John Bel Edwards appointed six people to the Board of Regents over the holidays.
He announced his appointments on Dec. 29 and they became effective Jan. 1.
The 15-member Board of Regents is one of Louisiana’s college management boards and the top budgeting and policymaking panel for public higher education in Louisiana.
Edwards selected Blake David, a Lafayette lawyer, who will be representing the 3rd Congressional District; Darren Mire, valuation director for the Orleans Parish Assessor’s Office, representing the 2nd Congressional District; W. Clinton “Bubba” Rasberry, a Shreveport businessman and previous Regents board member who will represent the 4th Congressional District; Jacqueline Vines Wyatt, a former Cox Communications executive from Prairieville, serving as an at-large member; T. Jay Seale III, a Hammond lawyer representing the 1st Congressional District; and Charles McDonald, a former state lawmaker from Sterlington who worked to create the TOPS tuition program and will be serving as a representative of the 5th Congressional District.
David, Rasberry, Seale and McDonald were all donors to Edwards’ campaign, according to multiple reports.
“The appointees I have named to the board bring an array of professional and educational expertise from higher education institutions across Louisiana,” Edwards said in a news release. “I am looking forward to working with them to build a brighter future for Louisiana’s students.”
