The LSU women’s basketball team lost to the Kentucky Wildcats 55-42 on Thursday evening in the PMAC.
The game came down to Kentucky’s defense and LSU’s missed opportunities on offense.
LSU shot 18-55 (32.7 percent) from the field. The tigers were out rebounded by Kentucky 30-45. LSU’s leading scorer was junior guard Raigyne Moncrief with 15 points.
This loss brings LSU’s record to 14-5 overall and 3-3 in the Southeastern Conference. The Tigers will face Texas A&M on Saturday.
Despite shooting 2-16 (12.5 percent) from three point territory, the Wildcats managed to shoot 41.1 percent from the field. Evelyn Akhator scored 20 points and had 11 rebounds. Taylor Murray also got a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
The victory takes Kentucky to 4-2 in SEC play and 13-6 overall. Next, they travel to Auburn to take on the Tigers on Sunday.
