The LSU women’s swimming & diving team returns to the pool for the final set home meets of the season.
This will be the last meet before the SEC Championships start on Tuesday, Feb 14.
At the last dual meet of the season, the No. 25 ranked women fell to No. 7 Texas A&M by a score of 193-103. The No. 24 ranked men had a solid performance but were also defeated by the Aggies with a score of 173-127.
Sophomore diver Lizzie Cui dove a personal best of 367.75 and placed first overall on the three-meter springboard for the women. Sophomore diver Matt McClellan posted a personal best with a score of 370.05, placing second.
Freshman distance freestyle swimmer Sven Saemundsson grabbed two individual wins in the 1000 and 5000 meter freestyle.
Senior Logan Rysemus took first in the 100-meter fly and freshman Karl Luht added another win for the men in the 100-meter freestyle. In the 200 meter freestyle, freshman Lewis Clough, junior Jake Markham, and senior Damen Pheiffer finished first, second and third.
On the women’s squad, senior Kara Kopsco took second overall in two events — the 200 and 100 meter fly. Kopcso also took third in the 200 IM.
The Tigers will host Tulane, Rice and Houston in the natatorium for the last meet before the championship season begins. Events will begin Friday at 5 p.m and will continue Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
