LSU was unable to break out of its losing slump in a SEC-Big 12 challenge matchup falling to Texas Tech 77-64.
LSU (9-11, 1-7 Southeastern Conference) dropped its seventh straight game of the season.
The Tigers allowed another strong start from their opponent, letting Texas Tech start the game on an 11-2 run. The Red Raiders were able to add a few more points to their lead taking a 39-27 lead at halftime.
Shooting woes continued for LSU in the first half with only sophomore guard Antonio Blakeney, junior forward Duop Reath and freshman forward Wayde Sims scoring LSU’s only points in the half.
LSU shot 47 percent from the field and 43 percent from 3-point range.
In the second half, the Tigers had a span of eight minutes 16 seconds without netting a single field goal.
Defending the three ball was a struggle for the Tigers as they allowed Texas Tech to knock down 12 triples on 52 percent shooting, a team that only shoots 37 percent from beyond the arc on the season.
Blakeney was the Tigers leading scorer with 23 points on 8-of-16 shooting while Reath added 12 points and 11 rebounds.
For the Red Raiders, forward Zach Smith led the way by scoring a career high 25 points.
LSU will return home to face South Carolina on Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the PMAC.
