Facing another top-five matchup, No. 1 LSU responded with a 197.575-197.100 victory against Southeastern Conference foe No. 4 Alabama.
“They did everything we asked them to do,” said LSU coach D-D Breaux in a news release. “We can practice for meets like this, but you don’t really know how they will react to his type of environment. We have to get used to it though because we won’t be at home at the end of the season.”
Senior All-Around Ashleigh “Bugs” Gnat scored her first 10.0 of the 2017 gymnastics season, and her seventh for her LSU career. Gnat is tied with former LSU gymnast Lloiminica Hall for the third-most 10.0 scores in LSU history.
Junior All-Arounder Myia Hambrick scored an overall score of 39.600. Her highest score of the meet was on the floor, scoring a 9.950 respectively. Gnat earned an overall score of 39.475 and sophomore Sarah Finnegan scored a 39.525.
The Tigers are 21-96-2 against the Crimson Tide in a series that dates back to the inception of the program in 1975. LSU is 4-25 in road meets against Alabama. LSU takes on Texas Women’s University next Friday.
