Senior center Elbert Robinson III has decided to step away from the LSU basketball program due to medical reasons according to a press release.
The senior will remain in school, and is set to graduate in 2018.
“I have really enjoyed getting to know Elbert and he has worked extremely hard in our offseason program since our arrival,” said coach Will Wade in the press release. “The LSU Athletics Department and our basketball program will continue to support Elbert and to make sure that we help him reach his ultimate goal of graduating next year with a degree from LSU.”
Robinson came to LSU in 2014 as a highly touted recruit, but struggled with weight issues during his three years with the Tigers.
The 7-foot-one, 290-pound center averaged 2.1 points and 1.4 rebounds in 6.4 minutes per game in his junior season.
