• Suave Friday at The Varsity Theatre: Hosted by BR Latin Nights, DJ Chino will bring the sounds of salsa, bachata, merengue, reggae and more to the Red Stick. Free salsa and bachata lessons will also be offered.  Show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10.

• Louisiana-based bands Shadow People, The Angry 88, Wimpsville and Gools will perform  at The Spanish Moon. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $8.

Saturday, July 1

• The monthly Baton Rouge Arts Market will be at the Red Stick Farmer’s Market on Fifth and Main Streets from 8 a.m. to noon.

• New Orleans: Big Freedia and Tank & the Bangas will perform a joint show at Tipitina’s. 9 p.m. Tickets are $32.

• Chris Cornell Tribute Concert at The Spanish Moon. Doors open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10.

Sunday, July 2

• Enjoy prize giveaways and drink specials at the Varsity Theatre’s Game of Thrones season five watching party. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. No cover.

Monday, July 3

• Rick Ross in New Orleans: See the legendary MC himself perform songs off his fifth solo album, “Rather You Than Me.” 8 p.m. at The Saenger Theatre. Tickets are $55.

Tuesday, July 4  

• Celebrate the Fourth at LSU Museum of Art’s Red Stick, White and Blue Celebration at the Shaw Center for the Arts. View WBRZ’s annual Fireworks on the Mississippi show from atop the Shaw Center’s rooftop terrace. 7 p.m. Tickets are $25.

• Enjoy local cuisine and fireworks at the USS KIDD’s Fourth of July Spectacular. The festivities will begin at 4 p.m.

• Hear the Baton Rouge Concert Band at the Annual Independence Day Concert at A. Z. Young Park. 7 p.m.

• Come out to The Funk of July at Spanish Moon, hosted by the Lemon Stevies and featuring performances by local groups Captain Green and Alabaster Stag. 8 p.m. Tickets are $10.
