Will Wade picked up another big recruit in point guard Tremont Waters according to a report by Evan Daniels of Scout.com.
After losing out on Wright State graduate transfer Mark Alstork, the Tigers still had an open scholarship due to guard Branden Jenkins transferring from the program.
Waters is No. 32 overall recruit in the Class of 2017 according to ESPN. Waters joins fellow incoming freshmen Galen Alexander, Mayan Kiir, Brandon Rachal and JUCO transfer Daryl Edwards as members of Wade’s first recruiting class.
“Tremont Waters is a dynamic point guard who will help our program immediately,” said Wade in a press release. “His ability to pass and score, along with his defensive tenacity, will help us tremendously as we move ahead toward the 2017-18 campaign.”
Waters, a Connecticut native, originally signed with Georgetown, but asked for a release following the firing of coach John Thompson III.
“Having a good contract was important and understanding a coach like Will Wade coming has to prove himself, just like Tremont does,” Tremont’s father Ed said to Scout.com. “I like the fact that he’s hungry and has something to prove. The conversations have been amazing.”
Waters is now the sixth new addition to Wade’s Tigers for the 2017-2018 season.
