After a devastating last second loss Saturday, the Tigers looked like a completely different team in their 80 to 50 win against Sam Houston State Monday.
Sophomore Guard Skylar Mays helped the Tigers put points on the board from defensive stops.
“I was just able to get my hands-on balls and create offense. I think as a team, we are at our best when we turn defense into offense. I try to lead by example,” Mays said.
Much to Head Coach Will Wade’s liking the Tigers went without turnover’s the entire game.
“We didn’t turn the ball over, that’s our achilles heel when we turn the ball over basically 15 times or more you can put it in the books as a L,” Wade said.
The Tigers energy was on a roll as they pounced the glass for offensive rebounds.
A lot of this energy came from sophomore forward Wayde Sims as an extra spark off the bench.
The Tigers have one more non-conference game on Friday against North Florida before SEC play against Kentucky Jan. 03, 2018.
Friday’s game will take place in the PMAC at 7p.m. and can be watched on SEC network.
