The month of March marks the celebration of Women’s History Month.
To kickstart WHM, the LSU Women’s Center will be hosting Women in the Performing Arts Night today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the International Cultural Center.
“Women from all walks of life participate in a variety show, which will include singers, ballet dancers, slam poets, a belly dance troupe, storytellers, African drums, piano players and a comedian,” according to a March 1 University news release.
Other University celebrations throughout Women’s History Month include a community service project at the YWCA of Greater Baton Rouge, a Women in the Arts Gallery in the Music and Dramatic Arts Building Studio Theatre and a Women’s History Month Keynote Address and Esprit de Femme Awards ceremony with Grammy award winner Irma Thomas as a guest.
